- OVER WASHING THE HAIR
We can’t deny the fact that washing our hair feels heavenly but over-washing, especially with shampoo can leave the hair all dried out and strip natural oils from the hair.We should never wash our hair every single day. NO! If we really have to wash them, then wash them after every two days. If Moreover, day-old hair gets styled better than freshly washed hair.
- APPLYING CONDITIONER ON THE SCALP
The basic use of conditioner is to keep our hair hydrated and protect from damage but the biggest mistake that some of us make is, apply conditioner on the scalp. This leads to clogging of the follicles and affects hair growth. The ends of your tresses should be the main focus of the conditioner. So be careful next time!
- HARSH TOWEL DRYING
Just because movie characters walk out of the shower with a white towel wrapped around their head doesn’t mean it’s the ideal way to dry the hair. In the midst of getting late or any other reason, some of us dry our hair with the towel in a very intense way. This may lead to friction against hair cuticle which can cause dull and frizzy hair. A good way to dry the hair would be to use a T-shirt made out of microfiber, which is smoother compared to a towel.
- USAGE OF THE WRONG BRUSH
Are we guilty of using all sorts of brushes and combs? YEAH! But it’s time we stop. Choosing the correct brush style and barrel size can make or break our blowout. Synthetic, plastic and metal brushes increase breakage and weaken our hair because they are not porous as natural brushes. Boar bristle brushes are ideal for getting shinier, healthier, smoother and stronger hair.
- NOT LEAVING THE WET HAIR ALONE!
We do so many things unintentionally to our hair but messing with it when it’s wet is just cruel! We comb it when it’s not as strong as we think. It stretches our strands and causes breakage. In fact, doing it vigorously can break the hair shafts and lead to damaged, frizzy hair and brush out the conditioning treatments, good oils and nutrients. Why can’t we leave the hair alone until it’s dry? We start untangling all frizz and tangles. Another disaster is tying our wet hair. It’s the major cause of hair damage, hair loss, hair thinning, dandruff, lice, scalp infections and baldness.
- BAD PONYTAIL HABITS
We have all had that moment when we couldn’t find a ponytail holder and so we got our work done using a lot of rubber bands. These rubber bands cause the gathering of strands leading them to breakage and split ends. Moreover, it’s not advisable to wear a ponytail all day long. We aren’t to blame because we love throwing up our hair into high ponytails but it’s a BIG NO!.
